International assessment of large research infrastructures of the Czech Republic in 2021
The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MEYS) hereby launches the call to submit documentation for the international peer-review assessment of large research infrastructures of the Czech Republic (in Czech only), which will be carried out in 2021. The call is announced in accordance with the evaluation methodology prepared by the MEYS, and recommended for the implementation by the Research, Development and Innovation Council (CRDI). The assessment methodology forms Annex No. 1 to the call (.zip). The deadline for the submission of duly completed dossiers for evaluation is Thursday, 10th December 2020.
Subject of the assessment
The subject of the evaluation process is the interim assessment of large research infrastructures of the Czech Republic, which were approved for public funding of the MEYS by the Governmental Resolution of 15th June 2015 No. 482, and by the Governmental Resolution of 12th December 2018 No. 836. Thus, 48 large research infrastructures, which are financed by the MEYS until 2022 and included in the latest 2019 update to the Roadmap of Large Research Infrastructures of the Czech Republic, shall undergo the evaluation. The subject of the assessment procedure is also the ex-ante evaluation of possible new large research infrastructure project proposals, which may be submitted only if they comply with the predefined thematic areas listed in Annex No. 2 to the call. These thematic areas were determined on the basis of a large research infrastructure “landscape/gap” analysis and recommended by the CRDI.
Objectives of the assessment
The purpose of the international peer-review assessment of large research infrastructures of the Czech Republic, to be held in 2021, is to obtain independent expert opinions to adopt an informed political decision of the Government of the Czech Republic on public funding of large research infrastructures in 2023–2029. The outcomes of the international evaluation exercise will also serve as a basis for the next, 2023 update to the Roadmap of Large Research Infrastructures of the Czech Republic, which will include large research infrastructures adopted by the Czech Government for financing in 2023–2029.
Assessment methodology and questionnaires
The methodology framework to perform the international peer-review assessment of large research infrastructures of the Czech Republic, to be arranged in 2021, includes the assessment methodology, set of questionnaires to be filled in by representatives of large research infrastructures and possible new project proposals, and template of consensus report to be completed by scientific panels of the international assessment committee (.zip). New project proposals of large research infrastructures may be submitted only on the basis of compliance with the predefined thematic areas. Detailed instructions for filling in the documentation are given directly in the templates, including the method of completion and submission of the documentation to the MEYS that must be carried out in the prescribed manner no later than Thursday, 10th December 2020.
