Research Infrastructure Workshops at Science, Research and Innovation Days 2024

On 12 September 2024, workshops focused on the administration of research infrastructures in the Czech Republic were held as part of the 1st annual conference Days of Science, Research and Innovation 2024, which took place at the CEITEC Research Centre of Masaryk University in Brno.

At the opening of the conference, Radka Wildová, Director General for Higher Education, Science and Research section of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MEYS), said, “The topic of science, research and innovation is so fundamental and extensive that we consider it necessary to devote sufficient time and space to it at the event itself. We would like to open a tradition of bringing together major players in the field of science, research and innovation on topical issues such as large research infrastructures, the preparation of the EU’s 10th Framework Programme, the evaluation of universities in 2025“.

Two workshops were dedicated to research infrastructures, placing their activities in the system of science support in the Czech Republic and shedding light on their international overlap. The MEYS staff communicated to the audience from the infrastructures the appropriate reporting method for monitoring the activities of large research infrastructures and outlined the issue of socio-economic benefits assessment, which will be highlighted in the next cycle of international evaluation of infrastructures.

R&D&I is a key area for promoting competitiveness and addressing today’s societal challenges. It focuses on developing innovation, linking research to practice and providing effective support for research organisations, including universities. Science, Research and Innovation Days 2024 can make a significant contribution to strengthening collaboration between academia, public institutions and industry, thereby increasing the transfer of research results into practice and promoting innovative solutions in different sectors.
