Radislav Sedláček elected new Chair of the ESFRI SWG on Health and Food
The delegations of EU Member States and Associated Countries to the European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures (ESFRI) elected Assoc. Prof Radislav Sedláček new Chair of the ESFRI Strategy Working Group on Health and Food. The working group represents the ESFRI expert platform, which focuses on roadmapping and landscape analysis of European research infrastructures operated in the fields of biological and medical sciences and food. The working group is assigned with tasks comprising monitoring and assessment of European biomedical and food research infrastructures, and identifies possible gaps in their European landscape. The working group also aims to foster mutual collaboration between European biological, medical and food research infrastructures and other related European initiatives and programmes, and to maximise their benefits and impacts, when addressing grand socio-economic challenges.
Radislav Sedláček
Radislav Sedláček is one of the leading Czech experts in molecular genetics and genome editing, especially in the use of generation of mouse models of human diseases. He was recruited to the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Czech Academy of Sciences in 2008, and since 2012, he has been Director of CCP (Czech Centre for Phenogenomics), a large research infrastructure. CCP has participated in INFRAFRONTIER (European Research Infrastructure for the Generation, Phenotyping, Archiving and Distribution of Model Mammalian Genomes), and due to the comprehensive portfolio of its expertise, from the generation of mutant models to its knowledge of and experience with analysing the functions of genes and their mutations, it has also become a Member of the international consortium IMPC (International Mouse Phenotyping Consortium). CCP is working together with IMPC Members on a very ambitious goal, which is the description of the functions of all mammalian genes. In 2019, CCP became a new Member of the EurOPDX European research infrastructure.
