Webinar: Assessing European Social Survey data in the context of COVID-19
We invite you to an introductory meeting from the new policy webinar series of the European Social Survey (ESS ERIC).
A webinar on Assessing European Social Survey data in the context of COVID-19 will take place on 15 June 2020 at 12.00 GMT. Participation in the webinar is free, after registration on the City University of London website. The event is held in English.
The aim of the new series of webinars is to present policy relevant research using ESS data. Today’s meeting will focus on studies using ESS data on social and interpersonal as well as political trust in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic in Europe. Atte Oksanen (Tampere Unversity) and Markus Kaakinen (University of Helsinki) will speak at the webinar on “Regulation and Trust: A 3-Month Follow-up Study on COVID-19 Mortality in 25 European Countries”. The second speaker will be Olivier Bargain (Bordeaux University), whose team published a study in May using ESS data on political trust combined with Google mobility reports to examine how the level of political trust affects compliance with lockdown measures in different European regions. The content of both presentations will be discussed by Piergiuseppe Fortunato (United National Conference for Trade and Development, UNCTAD), the webinar is chaired by Professor Rory Fitzgerald.
